Just a reminder that today is Nick Burt's Birthday!
I could have never planned for the whole that his loss has left in my heart
. . . I think of him several times a day.
Today, September 27, 2006 there was a bridge dedicated in his honor in
Pittsburgh. A train travels across this bridge on a daily bases bringing
supplies and material to Pittsburgh . . . Supporting the people and the
economy of Nick adopted home.
How fitting that it would be a "bridge". Nick was a bridge for so many of
us. Connecting us with China, with each other and with our God.
A more fitting tribute I could not conceive.
Godspeed dear friend . . . You are gone but never forgotten . . .
What will we do friends with the deposit of God's Spirit within you.
Shalom,

I met nick in early 2005. Hannah and I drove to Pittsburgh a few times for pre-marriage 'sessions' and I had the honor of being married by nick on 18 June of that year. Nick is personable and disarming and I enjoyed every moment i spent with him. He helped me learn more about my relationship with god and provided me with a lot of good memories. Outside of marrying my wife and I, my fonest memory is sitting in his living room and talking for what seamed like hours about sports, politics, and hunting. He was excited for the steelers season to start and I talked about the eagles. He showed me a photo of a dear he had killed and we shared stories about hunting.
I wish we could have hunted together or talked sports politics some more. More than anything I wish we could have talked about the bible more but sometimes you don't get to do all the things you want.. better laid plans I guess.
I wish his wife and daughter all the good will in the world. They're enchanting.
I never had a pastor before meeting nick.
